Trudi Canavan's Dark Magigican trilogy, Bernard Cornwell's Stonehenge, Henri Charriere's Papillon and Colleen McCullough's Masters of Rome behemoth series.

I'm presently reading Lord of the Silver Bow by David Gemmell as I travel to and from work. It's rather annoying that he died before finishing the trilogy. The first novel is excellent thus far.
